Day 1Arrive at Cairo airport and meet our representative

  • 08 DAYS CAIRO AND NILE CRUISE BY TRAINOur representative will be waiting for you upon arrival at Cairo Airport. Afterwards, you will be transferred to your chosen hotel to relax the rest of the day. And before our representative says “goodbye” will give you a quick brief about your journey’s itinerary and approving the pickup times.

Day 2Half day tour to Giza and Saqqara Plateaus

  • 12 DAYS JOURNEY INTO ANCIENT WONDERSStart your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel. 
  • Then, board your air-conditioned coach and head to the Giza Plateau, where you will visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. See the Khufu Pyramid, the largest pyramid in the world, and the Khafre Pyramid, with its famous Sphinx. Learn about the history and construction of these amazing structures from your Egyptologist guide. 
  • After lunch at a local restaurant, continue your tour to the Necropolis of Saqqara, which is located about 30 kilometers south of Giza. Here, you will see the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the first pyramid ever built. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-see for any visitor to Egypt. 
  • In the afternoon, you will return to your hotel.

Day 3Discover the Islamic history of Cairo

  • 12 DAYS JOURNEY INTO ANCIENT WONDERSAfter breakfast at the hotel you will start your day in the Al Darb Al Ahmar, an area south of Cairo’s city walls. This was initially the site of Fatimid and Ayyubid-era cemeteries, but under the prosperous reign of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad, the population of the city reached its peak and the area began to be developed in earnest. 
  • Next, visit the Salah El Din Citadel, a massive complex of fortifications that was built in the 12th century by Salah El Din, the Ayyubid sultan who defeated the Crusaders. The Citadel is home to several mosques, including the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali, which is one of the most beautiful mosques in Cairo. 
  • Then, proceed to the Sultan Hassan Mosque and Madrasa, which is considered to be one of the most important architectural masterpieces in Cairo. The mosque was built in the 14th century by Sultan Hassan, and it is characterized by its massive size and its stunningly intricate decorations. 
  • Finally, visit the Mosque of Ahmed Ibn Tulun, which is the third largest mosque in Egypt. This mosque was built in the 9th century, and it is notable for its unique spiral minaret and its spacious prayer hall. 
  • In the afternoon, you will return to your hotel.

Day 4Enjoy the nature in Fayoum

  • Visit Lake Qaroun, the largest lake in Egypt. This lake is home to a variety of wildlife, including crocodiles, hippopotamuses, and pelicans. 
  • Proceed to the National park of Wadi Rayan, this park is home to two waterfalls, Gabal Al Modawara, and the Wales Cemetery. 
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. 
  • Later, head to El Minya, a city located in Upper Egypt. 
  • Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in El Minya for check-in. 

Day 5Discover the mysterious history of El Minya

  • 12 DAYS JOURNEY INTO ANCIENT WONDERSStart your day at the necropolis of Tuna El Gabal, a large cemetery located in Middle Egypt. This necropolis is home to many important elements, including the crypts of baboons and ibises, which represent the god Thoth, the tomb of Isadora, the tomb of the priest Pet-Osiris, the old water wheel, and the boundary stele of the city of the Aton. 
  • Proceed to El Ashmunien, the ancient city of Hermopolis. This city was once a major center of worship for the god Thoth, and it is still home to many important ruins, including the open museum with the two colossal baboon statues and the ruins of the basilica church with its rose granite columns. 
  • Then, proceed to the site of Beni Hasan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site is home to a series of unique rock-cut tombs that were built during the Middle Kingdom. These tombs are decorated with scenes depicting local and regional life, including wrestling and military training. 

Day 6Visit Tell El Amarna and drive directly to Assuit

  • Tell El-Amarna, Al Minya - Egypt Tours Portal

    Breakfast will be served at the hotel, and then you will start your trip by visiting Tell El Amarna, the capital of Akhenaten, the 18th Dynasty pharaoh who tried to introduce a monotheistic religion based on the worship of the sun god Aten. You will explore the city, including the northern and southern tombs, the ruins of the palace and temples, and finally the royal tomb.

  • Then, you will go to Assuit city to visit the Al Muharraq Monastery, which is believed to be the place where the Holy Family stayed for 6 months and 10 days during their flight to Egypt. The monastery is located 48 kilometers north of Assiut and is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians. 
  • After that, you will head to Meir Village, which was the functioning cemetery for Cusae, located in Egypt, approximately 30-40 miles north of the city of Assiut. Meir functioned as an Old Kingdom-Middle Kingdom (6th-12th Dynasty) cemetery for the nomarchs of the fourteenth Nome of Upper Egypt. Below the hillside of the rock-cut tombs lies a cemetery that is specifically for the more common folk. The rock-cut tombs only functioned for nomarches of the city of Cusae, which was a cult center for the Egyptian deity Hathor.
  • Finally, you will be driven to Abydos, which is one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt. Abydos was the cult center for the god Osiris, and it is home to a number of important temples and tombs, including the Osireion, the Temple of Seti I, and the Tomb of Tutankhamun. 

Day 7Full day tour around Abydos and Dandara

Day 8Embark el Nile Cruise and half day tour around the Eastern Bank

  • Enjoy lunch on board as the Nile cruise is docked in the eastern bank of Luxor. 
  • In the afternoon, you will visit the Temples of Luxor and Karnak. The Temple of Luxor is dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, and the Temple of Karnak is the largest religious complex in the world. 
  • After your visit, you will have an appetizing dinner on board.

Day 9The Western Bank visit and start sailing from Luxor

  • 12 DAYS JOURNEY INTO ANCIENT WONDERSBreakfast will be served on board, and then it’s time to visit the West Bank of Luxor which is home to some of the most impressive ancient Egyptian monuments, including the Valley of the Kings, the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon. 
  • The Valley of the Kings is the burial ground for most of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (1550-1070 BC). The tombs are carved into the cliffs of the Theban Necropolis, and many of them are decorated with elaborate paintings and hieroglyphs.
  • The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut is one of the most impressive temples in Egypt. It was built by Hatshepsut, the female pharaoh of the New Kingdom, and it is dedicated to the gods Amun-Ra and Hathor.
  • After your tour around the west bank you will be returned on board to start the sailing from Luxor Edfu.
  • Lunch and dinner will be served on board while you enjoy the sailing.

Day 10Enjoy the sailing and visit Edfu and Kom-Ombo temples

  • Breakfast will be served on board.
  • Your Egyptologist guide will pick you up from the Nile cruise boarding a traditional transportation to visit Edfu temple, which is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. It is located on the west bank of the Nile River, about 60 kilometers south of Luxor. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic period (332-30 BC) and is dedicated to the god Horus.
  • When you are on board lunch will be served while proceeding sailing from Edfu to Kom-Ombo.
  • Late afternoon the Nile cruise will be docked at Kom-Ombo to visit the temple which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris (Horus the Elder). It is located in the Kom Ombo District of Aswan Governorate, about 240 kilometers south of Cairo and about 40 kilometers north of Aswan. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic period (305-30 BCE), but there is evidence that a shrine has existed on the site since the Old Kingdom (2686-2181 BCE).
  • Back to the Nile cruise to enjoy dinner while sailing to Aswan is proceeding.

Day 11The Nile Cruise will moor in Aswan and visit it's highlights

  • And then  the Egyptologist guide will take you to Philae temple which is decorated with reliefs depicting scenes from the lives of Isis and Osiris, as well as scenes from Egyptian mythology. The temple also houses a number of obelisks, statues, and other artifacts.
  • Back on board to enjoy your lunch and dinner.

Day 12Departure time

  • 08 DAYS CAIRO AND NILE CRUISE BY TRAINAfter breakfast on board, you will disembark the Nile cruise ship and be transferred to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo. You will then take your flight home, where your journey will end.
