The journey will start with a pickup from your accommodation in Cairo in a private vehicle, and after about 3 hours driving you will reach Al-Alamein, which is a town on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. It is best known for the Battle of El Alamein, which was fought there in 1942. The battle was a turning point in the North African campaign of World War II. You can visit the WWII Museum and Cemetery in Al-Alamein to learn more about the battle.
After a hearty breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Old City of Siwa (Shali). This ancient mud brick fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Siwa Oasis. You will wander through the narrow streets and alleyways, admiring the traditional architecture and learning about the history of the city from your guide. 
After breakfast, you will start your desert safari in Siwa Oasis. You will visit Maraki Village, a traditional Siwan village located in the desert. You will then cross the desert to the Great Siwa Mountain. The mountain is home to the first human footprint above the mountain, which dates to the pre-history era. You will continue your safari between the dunes until you arrive at the fossils area. The fossils area is home to rocky coral reefs, which date to the Cambrian era.
