You walk in the shadows of these ancient structures and marvel at the engineering feats that were required to create them.
After a full day of sightseeing, you enjoy dinner on board your dahabiya boat and Overnight.
This morning, we will explore the west bank of the Nile River and the Necropolis of Thebes. We will first visit the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues of the pharaoh Amenhotep III. Next, we will arrive at the Temple of Hatshepsut, an architectural masterpiece built by the first female pharaoh of Egypt. Finally, we will make our way to the Valley of the Kings, the burial ground of the pharaohs. Here, we will visit the tomb of Tutankhamun, one of the most famous archaeological discoveries of all time (this tomb with extra charge).
The Valley of the Kings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to over 60 tombs of pharaohs and nobles. The tombs were carved into the rock of the valley over a period of 500 years, beginning in the 16th century BC. The tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter. The tomb was remarkably well-preserved and contained a vast treasure trove of artifacts, including Tutankhamun’s famous golden mask.
After visiting the Valley of the Kings, we will return to our boat and sail to El Hegz Island. Here, we will enjoy dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, we will visit the ancient tombs and temple ruins of El Kab. These ruins are located on the west bank of the Nile River, about 30 kilometers south of Luxor. The tombs date back to the Middle Kingdom, and the temple ruins are from the New Kingdom. We will then return to our boat and continue sailing to Edfu.
In Edfu, we will visit the Edfu Temple, one of the largest and best-preserved temples in Egypt. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic period, and it is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. The temple is a beautiful example of ancient Egyptian architecture, and it is sure to be a highlight of your trip.
After visiting the Edfu Temple, we will moor for the night just outside of Edfu. This will give us a chance to relax and reflect on all of the amazing things we have seen and experienced today.
After a delicious breakfast on board, you will set sail to Bisaw Island, a remote island in the Nile River. Here, you will have the opportunity to meet the local villagers and learn about their traditional way of life.
You can also go fishing with the local fishermen and experience the excitement of catching your own dinner. After a day of exploring the island, you will sail to El Selsela, an ancient sandstone quarry and shrine.
Here, you can wander among the ruins of this ancient site and learn about its history. In the evening, you will enjoy a special barbecue dinner by moonlight, followed by an overnight stay on board your boat.
The Great Temple of Kom Ombo is a magnificent sight, set dramatically on the bank of the Nile. The soaring, chunky columns are a testament to the power and artistry of the ancient Egyptians. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic period, and it is dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder, the falcon god. The temple is unique for its double design, with two parallel axial passages running through its columned halls, terminating in two sanctuaries, one for each god. The southern axis is dedicated to Sobek, while the northern axis is dedicated to Horus.
The temple is a treasure trove of ancient Egyptian art and architecture. The walls are covered in hieroglyphs and reliefs depicting the gods, the pharaohs, and scenes from Egyptian mythology. The temple also contains a number of mummified crocodiles, which were sacred to Sobek.
The Great Temple of Kom Ombo is a must-see for any visitor to Egypt. It is a fascinating glimpse into the ancient Egyptian world, and it is a truly awe-inspiring sight.
As the sun sets on the horizon, our cruise ship sails majestically towards Aswan while dinner is served on board.
After a delicious breakfast, you will board a motorized boat to Philae Temple on the island of Agilika. This sacred complex was dedicated to the goddess Isis, one of the most important deities in ancient Egypt. The temple was built over a period of centuries, and it reflects a fusion of three great civilizations: Egyptian, Greek, and Roman. In the 1960s, the temple was dismantled and then painstakingly reassembled on Agilika Island to save it from being submerged by the rising waters of the Aswan High Dam.
After visiting Philae Temple, you will proceed to the Aswan High Dam. This massive dam was built in the 1960s to control the flooding of the Nile River and to generate hydroelectric power. The dam is one of the most impressive engineering feats in the world, and it has had a major impact on the lives of people in Egypt and Sudan.
You will have lunch on board your boat as you cruise back to Aswan. In the afternoon, you will transfer to Aswan airport for your departure flight.
